
Senior Climate & Sustainability Risk Manager

As Senior Sustainability Risk Manager you support in identifying sustainability and climate risks that can impact our company, to define how to best mitigate them and to monitor follow up. Furthermore, you help to define how NN can best adapt its strategy in a fast changing world.

Within the team Enterprise Risk & Integration (ERI), we are looking for a Senior Risk Manager who helps to identify and monitor our key sustainability risks, contribute to the set-up and execution of the Sustainability Risk Roadmap, further strengthen our risk-control framework, and give solicited and unsolicited advice to multiple stakeholders. Together with three other Risk Managers, you will also help prepare proposals for risk strategy and setting the risk management framework, the overall risk appetite and the limit framework for NN Group. By supporting in identification, assessment and monitoring of sustainability risks you help to safeguard successful execution of NN Group’s strategy, capital position and contribute to long term value creation of our company.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the themes and activities of the Group Risk Sustainability Center of Expertise (CoE), a.o. performing qualitative and quantitative Sustainability risk assessments, coordinating Sustainability knowledge sessions, developing Sustainability risk dashboard, aligning with Sustainability related reporting requirements and updating our Risk Control Framework and ensuring it is correctly applied at Group and in business units
- Contribute to the Sustainability related scenarios of the annual Own Risk & Solvency Assessment (ORSA) Report for NN Group, incl. developing scenarios and stress tests for Group and business units in order to improve and optimize key Sustainability risk strategies, in close cooperation with Capital Management, Risk Modelling & Analytics and Financial Risk Management
- Participating actively in one or more workstreams of the Task Force Sustainability in Business programme of NN Group and get aligned with similar workstreams of the local Sustainability programmes at the (inter)national Business Units
- Writing and coordinating input from others on external Sustainability related reporting of the NN Group risk profile and Sustainability risk activities included in the annual report, analyst presentations, reports to supervisors and regulators, rating agencies, as well as the internal Sustainability risk reporting on NN Group’s risk profile to the Management Board and the Supervisory Board, while driving the cooperation on this with BUs and other central teams of Group Risk and interacting independently with (external) auditors
- Supporting initiatives that support NN Group’s sustainability strategy (main counterparts at NN Group level being Group Strategy, Corporate Relations, Group M&A, Strategic Transformation Office); acting as an Sustainability risk business advisor and being involved into the definition of the business strategy
Climate and sustainability are two relatively new topics within NN. As in insurance company, we are at the forefront on dealing with these risks, as they impact us directly. In this role, you help both to define strategies and requirements how to address these risks, but also to implement the same. You have an important impact on defining NN’s strategy in this area, and contributing to a more sustainable world.

The relevant experience, education and interests of the new Senior Sustainability Risk Manager are as follows:
- An Academic Master’s degree in Actuarial science, Econometrics, Economics, Finance, Financial Risk Management or similar degree
- Relevant experience in the Financial sector (minimum 5 years), in the fields of Strategy, Sustainability, Risk Management, Solvency II, Finance or Internal Control
- Relevant knowledge of enterprise risk management and/or interest in the risk related sustainability aspects of the Insurance business – preferably in either investment (risk) management or actuarial risk management
- Fluent in English (verbal and written)

As Senior Sustainability Risk Manager, you are part of the ERI team, consisting of one head and four other colleagues. At ERI, you will collaborate intensively with another experienced Senior Sustainability Risk Manager. The ERI team is part of the wider ERM team, which consists of twenty professionals in the area of Strategic, Emerging, IT and Operational risk. Most of us are Risk Managers, but we also have colleagues with an IT or Finance background in our midst. We are all very curious and love challenging each other. The atmosphere is open and informal, and as a true team we always have each other’s back. We have different nationalities in the team, so there are lots of opportunities to learn from each other’s cultures as well.
In the CoE, you work with all other risk disciplines within NN Group, to be able to implement sustainability risk management in all different areas of our company.
