Senior Associate Credit and Portfolio Management

ABN AMRO Corporate Banking (CB) has a client base of approximately 3,000 commercial clients. In Northwest Europe (Netherlands, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Ireland and Belgium), we serve clients with revenues exceeding EUR 100 million.
Financing Solutions (FS) is the Lending unit of CB where all Lending offerings and expertise are clustered. FS is responsible for the origination, structuring, execution and portfolio management of a variety of lending products for all sectors and segments. The Lending department within FS can be divided into roughly two units, namely Corporate Lending Europe and Specialised sectors (Natural resources, Shipping and Financial Institutions).
Corporate Lending provides (structured) lending products to new and existing large corporate clients domestically and internationally. In close collaboration with other product-teams of FS and Risk Management, Lending is responsible for resolving complex tailor-made and bilateral- and syndicated financing issues of clients and is the ‘first-line of defence’ in the assessment credit risk based on (credit) experience and specific client- and sector knowledge. After obtaining credit risk approval from Risk Management, Corporate Lending negotiates the credit documentation with the client. In addition, Corporate Lending is responsible for monitoring the existing portfolio of (debt) transactions and the execution of deals, including coordination with external advisors (legal, technical, insurance, markets).
Your job
The ABN AMRO Corporate Lending team in the United Kingdom is part of Corporate Lending Europe which consists of all the Corporate lending activities in The Netherlands and Northwest Europe. The team in the UK is responsible for building and maintaining a Lending portfolio of mid and large cap clients, active in various sectors along the line of three strategic themes, (i) Digitisation, (ii) Mobility and (iii) Energy Transition. Together with Client Coverage colleagues, Corporate Lending Europe has a shared responsibility for the credit relationship and management of the portfolio of European clients within Corporate Lending Europe. This includes the structuring of complex tailor-made and bilateral financing solutions, advising, promoting various lending products to new- and existing clients also in close collaboration with Client Coverage, Global Markets, Risk Management, etc.
As an Senior Associate you will work in close cooperation with the Director, Corporate Lending UK and Team members based in the Netherlands in managing the portfolio of the UK franchise. You will be part of Client Service Teams (CST) which are multiple product teams that are managed by the Coverage Banker to tackle client questions and develop commercial propositions. In addition, you will be involved in the origination and execution of deals including pitching to clients, writing credit applications, structuring transactions, reviewing and negotiating credit documentation, and coordination with external advisors. Lastly, the function includes the monitoring of the existing portfolio of debt transactions and contribution to internal projects in the areas of process optimisation and innovation of the credit chain, regulatory developments and requests, sector deep dives, risk management projects, and organisation wide initiatives.

ABN AMRO UK is part of the Corporate Banking business line and operates the following businesses in the UK:
- Corporate and Institutional Banking which includes Corporate Banking, Clearing, Global Markets - Sales & Trading and Financial Institutions
- Commercial Banking which includes Asset Based Finance and International Desk, which provides transactional banking services
Our business lines are supported by a number of functions such as Risk, Compliance, Legal, IT, Finance (Including Tax), Business Management and Human Resources. We currently employ approx. 380 people in the UK.
Your profile
- Educated at university level.
- Experience in a client facing or risk management type of role.
- Affinity with the UK & Ireland medium sized client base (GBP > 100m turnover).
- Solid knowledge of international credit process (incl. credit application/processing/monitoring).
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer literacy and technical skills, proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Solid knowledge and experience of project /stakeholder management processes.
- Experienced with medium- to high intensity clients and prospects, preferably with (international) large corporates and/or international clients.
- Excellent in English (oral and written) and preferably additional languages.
- Accurate attention to detail and consistently strives for the highest quality output in all work.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and contribute to the performance and development of the team.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time, including to the Head Office in Amsterdam.
