Banking regulations are changing rapidly and can have a significant impact on the strategy we adopt, the decisions we make and the way we work. We are looking for a new Senior Advisor in our Regulations & Policies Team, with a focus on Credit Risk or Market Risk.
Your job
In your role as (Senior) Advisor Regulations & Policies, your regulatory knowledge and expertise allows you to provide the organization with intelligent yet pragmatic solutions. You ensure that these are regulatory compliant and support the bank’s strategy and its core values, such as client centricity. You are a trusted advisor to senior 1st and 2nd line colleagues, you provide advice and challenge where necessary. You translate complex material into useful and easy-to-digest policies and communications. Regular activities include:
- Interpretate (new) regulations with a focus on Credit Risk regulations such as CRR III / Basel IV and EBA guidelines.
- Engage with internal stakeholders on regulatory and risk management requirements: explain, provide solutions, advise, collaborate and build relationships. A pro-active approach is appreciated.
- Write and maintain a consistent and useful set of risk policies, that guide the activities of the business and risk organisation.
- Operate in a multi-disciplinary project-setting to support larger regulatory change processes.
- Support the bank in its regulatory dialogues, including on-site inspections by and information requests from our supervisors (ECB/DNB).
Working environment
As (Senior) Advisor Regulations & Policies you will join the Regulations & Policies team, which provides you with a dynamic, international and informal working environment. The team is part of Central Risk Management, a department at the heart of ABN AMRO’s risk management and responsible for a broad spectrum of topics that have a direct link with banking regulations and with the bank’s (risk) strategy. Central Risk Management covers areas such as stress testing, enterprise risk, sustainability risk, capital advisory and risk appetite. The Regulations & Policies team works closely together with the colleagues of the Basel Centre and collaborates with other risk, compliance and commercial departments within the bank. The vacant position offers ample (career) opportunities to develop your knowledge of risk management, of the bank’s activities while enabling you to build upon your stakeholder management and communication skills.
Your profile
You are a great candidate to become our new colleague if you meet the following description:
- You have 5+ years of experience in risk management within a financial institution or a financial supervisor, preferably with a focus on financial risks (credit risk, market risk);
- You enjoy translating banking regulations into actionable documents and implementation plans. You have worked with different regulations;
- You are gifted with analytical skills that enable you to synthesize a large amount of information and to move from abstract requirements to actual practice;
- You have excellent communications skills - both verbally and written. You are able to describe complex topics in writing and to explain them to colleagues with various backgrounds, experiences and seniority levels. You are able to balance various opinions and purposes, while securing an effective outcome;
- You hold at least a university masters degree in law, economics, business management, sustainability or a related field;
- Fluency in English is a must. Knowledge of Dutch is preferred.

We are offering
- The gross monthly salary displayed above is based on a 36-hour work week, including vacation pay and benefit budget.
- The Benefit Budget is 11% of your salary. The Benefit Budget allows you to acquire additional employment benefits. If you make no purchases or reservations in the Benefit Shop in a given month, you are paid one twelfth of your Benefit Budget that month.
- Five weeks of vacation per year. You have the option to purchase an additional four weeks per year.
- Personal development Budget of € 1,000 per year, which you can accumulate up to € 3,000.
