The team
Within Enterprise Architecture we are looking for a new Risk Architect. You will be joining an experienced team of 8 Architects that work in the Financial Risk domains within ING. The team is based in Amsterdam and works to further develop ING’s global services.
Roles and responsibilities
As Architect you:
- Develop and maintain architecture for the Financial Risk domain, covering credit risk, market risk, liquidity risk, and capital modelling, with a specialization in credit risk and modelling risk.
- Facilitate the translation of organizational strategy, business needs, policies and evolving complex regulatory requirements (e.g. CRR, Basel IV, IFRS9).
- Define and maintain domain, business process and information architecture to support the end-to-end model and credit risk lifecycle, from data sourcing to model execution, credit risk management and reporting.
- Identify reusable design patterns, standardization & innovation opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross-border and cross-functional teams viz. CRO departments, modelling teams, Credit Operations, data scientists, IT architects, and business stakeholders to align modelling tooling, credit risk tooling, data pipelines, and governance processes.
- Lead and contribute to workshops, architecture reviews, and governance boards, providing expertise in mainly business context plus technical.
- Stay current with industry standards, regulations (e.g., BCBS 239, DORA, EBA/ECB guidelines), emerging tech (e.g., AI/ML, cloud-native data platforms), and best practices in enterprise and modelling architecture.

- You have Strong experience in enterprise and domain architecture with proven delivery across multiple risk areas (credit, market, liquidity).
- Deep knowledge of financial risk management, credit risk, and regulatory modelling across banking and financial services.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing architecture solutions (large scale Credit Risk Engines, Model platforms, Data Platforms).
- Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical topics to various audiences.
- Ability to develop strong and collaborative partnerships with organizational leaders across Business and Technology departments.
- Bachelors / master’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, Economics or Financials related field. Professional certification (e.g. FRM-GARP) is a plus
- Knowledge of and experience with IT architecture methodologies (e.g.TOGAF, ArchiMate), modelling governance standards (e.g., SR 11-7, model risk management frameworks) and an agile work environment.
